HEY THERE!
I'M NICOL WITHOUT AN "E".
I'm passionate about exploring ways we can unlearn harmful cultural norms to create world that's more fair and beautiful.
About
I'm originally from Bolivia, currently residing in Washington, DC. I'm passionate about challenging the harmful cultural norms I grew up with - from ingrained gender norms that often make me question the beauty of a my bare face without makeup, to limiting immigrant stereotypes that keep my imposter syndrome alive even today. I spend most of my time working on challenging harmful norms in various realms.
During the day, I work on helping Facebook build products more inclusively with and for marginalized communities everywhere. I've been at Facebook for five years, mostly helping build and launch election products around the world and supporting civic education non-profits scale their resources to black and brown communities in the US. Most recently, I work on helping Facebook Reality Labs build future tech more inclusively.
At night, you'll find me studying Global Development at Harvard's Extension school where I'm focused on challenging critical assumptions to building a more sustainable world.
On the weekends, I'm the co-founder of Girlz,FTW, a mentorship program for women and girls in over 70 countries working to break harmful female stereotypes and elevate the voices of women in important conversations.
In my free time, you'll find me dancing salsa, cooking for friends and family, and cradling my cat 😻.
